Hand-Carved Whitewash Architectural Grid Four-Panel Room Divider Screen
Structure and Bloom.
This four-panel screen takes a more architectural approach than an open jali. Each panel is divided by thin horizontal and vertical rails into a grid of smaller framed rectangular sections arranged in columns and rows. The sections alternate between two types: solid panels with carved low-relief floral motifs, and open jali cutwork floral sections where light passes through. The overall effect is window-pane-like — ordered and geometric, with carving and openwork filling every cell. Each panel is topped with a scalloped floral carved crest. All in antique white grey whitewash distressed finish.
Use it as a room divider, partition, decorative screen, or an architectural standing statement piece.
