Every surface of the border — top rail, side columns, bottom rail — is covered in a continuous field of deeply hand-carved small flowers and overlapping leaves, so dense that the carved frame becomes as much the point as the shelving it holds. The finish is a weathered grey whitewash: understated, natural, and quietly sophisticated.
