Hand-Carved Grey-Silver Open Jali Mandala Wall Panel
A Mandala That Casts Its Own Shadow.
This large square jali panel is built around a single idea executed perfectly: a deeply carved sunflower medallion at the centre, radiating outward through concentric rings of scrolling acanthus vine and leaf motifs with small five-petal flower accents at every intersection, all rendered in open cutwork that lets light pass completely through. The result is a panel that functions as wall art by day — and as a shadow-casting instrument whenever light falls on it from the side or front.
The dense carved vine and floral border frame on all four sides gives the piece a contained, formal quality that makes it work in both traditional and contemporary interiors. The aged grey-silver distressed finish is understated enough to let the carving lead.
